Pre and Post Surgery IV Therapy

Cancer surgery is a major event for your body. Whether you’re having a tumour removed, a biopsy or a more complex procedure, the demands on your system are significant. How well you recover depends in part on how strong and well-nourished your body is going in.

At Wellbeing Medical Group, we offer IV infusion programmes designed specifically for cancer patients before and after surgery. Pre-operative infusions help prepare your body by supporting immune function, nutritional status and overall resilience. Post-operative infusions support healing, help manage pain and fatigue, and give your body the nutrients it needs to recover.

Every programme is designed by Dr Saskia based on your diagnosis, your surgical plan and your individual needs. We work alongside your surgical team, not instead of them.

Our clinical team specialises in integrative cancer care. Every member understands the unique needs of cancer patients and stays up to date with the latest research so that your protocol reflects current best practice.

Our clinic on Tower Bridge Road is easily accessible by public transport and within walking distance of London Bridge station. We’ve designed the space to feel calm and private

From the moment you arrive, our team is here to look after you. The clinic is a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax during your therapy.

We offer flexible scheduling around your hospital treatment calendar. Booking is straightforward and our team will help you find times that work.

We begin with a free consultation to understand your diagnosis and treatment history. Dr Saskia and the medical team will then recommend the right therapies for your situation and provide clear pricing. There is no obligation to proceed.

What Our Surgery Support Programme Aims to Do

Your personalised infusion programme is designed to:

Strengthen your immune system

Surgery puts your immune system under pressure. Our pre-operative infusions help ensure your body’s defences are as strong as possible before your procedure.

Support appetite and nutrition

Cancer and its treatment can leave you malnourished. IV delivery ensures your body receives essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids directly, bypassing any absorption issues.

Help speed your recovery

Post-operative infusions are designed to support tissue repair, reduce inflammation and help your body heal more efficiently after surgery.

Reduce pain and fatigue

Many patients experience significant fatigue and discomfort after surgery. Our post-operative protocols aim to help you feel stronger sooner and reduce your recovery time.

In our clinical experience, patients who receive pre-operative IV support before cancer surgery tend to recover more quickly and experience fewer post-surgical complications. While large-scale clinical trials are limited in this specific area, the biological rationale for nutritional and immune support before and after surgery is well established.

“Even in the absence of extensive clinical research specific to pre-operative IV therapy, it is clear from both clinical practice and biological rationale that vitamins, minerals and amino acids play a vital role in recovery and tissue repair. Supporting the body with these essential nutrients may also help to reduce the risk of complications such as infections after surgical procedures.”

Our Patients — Real Stories, Real Results

Fiona

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer

After one cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Fiona decided the side effects were too much. She came to us looking for a different way to support her body alongside her hospital care.

Dr Saskia reviewed her biopsy results, designed an integrative plan around her needs, and worked with her throughout.

Her oncologist monitored her progress closely — and Fiona was able to maintain her quality of life and disease stability.

Graeme

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma Oesophagus

Graeme contacted us before he’d even had his final diagnosis confirmed.

He wanted to be prepared — to have a plan that worked alongside whatever his NHS team recommended.

Dr Saskia built an integrative care plan around his surgery and treatment, focused on strengthening his body and managing side effects.

Isis

Diagnosis: Hodgkin Lymphoma

Isis was facing six months of chemotherapy for an aggressive diagnosis.

She came to us wanting to do everything she could to reduce side effects and give the chemotherapy the best chance of working.

Dr Saskia designed an intensive protocol alongside her hospital treatment, and Isis committed fully — attending every session and immersing herself in the research behind her care.

Pre & Post Surgery IV Therapy — Common Questions

Ideally, we begin your pre-operative infusion programme as early as possible before your surgery date. This gives your body the best opportunity to build up its nutritional reserves and immune defences. Dr Saskia will design a timeline based on your specific surgical plan.

If your surgery is coming up quickly, even a short course of pre-operative infusions can help. Contact us as soon as you know your surgery date and we’ll work with whatever time is available.

Your infusion programme is personalised to your needs, but typically includes a carefully designed combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that support immune function, tissue repair and overall resilience. The specific formulation depends on your diagnosis, your nutritional status and your surgical plan.

Everything is designed by Dr Saskia and administered by our specialist nursing team under full medical supervision.

This depends on your surgery and your surgical team’s advice. We coordinate with your hospital care team to ensure the timing is right. In most cases, post-operative infusions can begin once you’re medically stable and your surgeon is happy for you to proceed.

Our nursing team can deliver post-operative infusions at our London clinic or at your home, whichever is more comfortable during your recovery.

The role of nutritional support in surgical recovery is well established in medical practice. Vitamins, minerals and amino acids are essential for immune function, wound healing and tissue repair. IV delivery ensures your body receives these nutrients at therapeutic levels, bypassing any absorption limitations.

While large-scale clinical trials specifically on pre-operative IV therapy for cancer patients are limited, the biological rationale is strong and our clinical experience shows that patients who receive pre-operative support tend to recover more quickly. We are always honest about the level of evidence behind our recommendations.

Surgery Preparation at Home — Anywhere in the UK

If you can’t travel to London before or after your surgery, our nursing team can deliver your infusions at home through our cancer care at home service.

This is particularly valuable during post-operative recovery when travelling to a clinic may not be practical.

Your therapy plan is still designed by Dr Saskia and overseen by our medical team. The only difference is where your infusion is given.
