Mistletoe IV Therapy at Wellbeing Medical Group

Mistletoe extract has been used in cancer care for over a century and is one of the most widely prescribed complementary therapies across Europe.

At Wellbeing Medical Group, we use Helixor, a well-established European mistletoe preparation, as the basis for our mistletoe therapy protocols. Every protocol is designed specifically for cancer patients and works alongside your NHS care.

Dr Saskia reviews your diagnosis, your hospital treatment plan and your individual response before recommending mistletoe therapy. Every protocol is tailored to you — your cancer type, your therapy stage and your specific needs.

We offer mistletoe therapy both as an IV infusion at our London clinic and as a subcutaneous injection that can be administered at home by our nursing team. Both routes are safe and well established in integrative oncology.

Our clinical team specialises in integrative cancer care. Every member understands the unique needs of cancer patients and stays up to date with the latest research so that your protocol reflects current best practice.

Our clinic on Tower Bridge Road is easily accessible by public transport and within walking distance of London Bridge station. We’ve designed the space to feel calm and private

From the moment you arrive, our team is here to look after you. The clinic is a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax during your therapy.

We offer flexible scheduling around your hospital treatment calendar. Booking is straightforward and our team will help you find times that work.

We begin with a free consultation to understand your diagnosis and treatment history. Dr Saskia and the medical team will then recommend the right therapies for your situation and provide clear pricing. There is no obligation to proceed.

What Does the Research Say About Mistletoe Therapy?

Mistletoe is one of the most studied complementary therapies in cancer care. Multiple systematic reviews and meta-analyses have examined its effects, and the evidence base continues to grow.

The strongest evidence relates to quality of life. A meta-analysis of 26 controlled trials found that patients receiving mistletoe therapy alongside conventional treatment reported meaningful improvements in overall wellbeing compared to those who did not. Patients commonly report less fatigue, better appetite, improved sleep and a greater sense of coping during treatment.

Laboratory research has shown that mistletoe extracts can stimulate key immune cells and, in preclinical studies, induce apoptosis — the natural process by which damaged cells are broken down. Clinical studies in patients with pancreatic, lung, colorectal and breast cancer suggest that mistletoe may help improve how well patients tolerate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, reducing side effects such as fatigue, nausea and mucositis.

There is currently no evidence that mistletoe therapy interferes with or reduces the effectiveness of conventional cancer treatment. It is considered safe and well tolerated when administered under medical supervision.

It is important to to acknowledge the limitations. While many studies show positive trends, the overall evidence base includes significant variation in study design, and higher-quality trials tend to show more modest effects.

Mistletoe therapy is not a cure for cancer, and we would never present it as one.

What it can do is support you through your therapy and help you feel better while your hospital care does its work.

Our Patients - Empowering People Lives

Fiona

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer

After one cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Fiona decided the side effects were too much.

She came to us looking for a different way to support her body alongside her hospital care.

Dr Saskia reviewed her biopsy results, designed an integrative plan around her needs, and worked with her throughout. Her oncologist monitored her progress closely — and Fiona was able to maintain her quality of life and disease stability.

Graeme

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma Oesophagus

Graeme contacted us before he’d even had his final diagnosis confirmed.

He wanted to be prepared — to have a plan that worked alongside whatever his NHS team recommended.

Dr Saskia built an integrative care plan around his surgery and hospital pathway, focused on strengthening his body and managing side effects.

Isis

Diagnosis: Hodgkin Lymphoma

Isis was facing six months of chemotherapy for an aggressive diagnosis.

She came to us wanting to do everything she could to reduce side effects and give the chemotherapy the best chance of working.

Dr Saskia designed an intensive protocol alongside her hospital treatment, and Isis committed fully — attending every session and immersing herself in the research behind her care.

Mistletoe Therapy — Common Questions

Mistletoe therapy works by supporting your immune system while you’re going through cancer treatment. Research suggests it can help stimulate key immune cells, reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and improve your overall quality of life. Many of our patients report less fatigue, better appetite and an improved sense of wellbeing during their treatment.

It’s important to understand that mistletoe therapy is not a cancer treatment in itself. It works alongside your hospital care to help your body cope better with the demands of treatment.

Mistletoe therapy has a strong safety profile and is generally very well tolerated. The most common reaction is mild redness or warmth at the injection site for subcutaneous administration, which is expected and usually settles quickly. Serious side effects are rare.

Before starting treatment, Dr Saskia reviews your full medical history and current hospital treatment to make sure mistletoe therapy is appropriate for you. We advise all patients to eat before their session and stay well hydrated. Our nursing team monitors you throughout every infusion.

Mistletoe therapy uses a medical extract from the European white-berry mistletoe plant (Viscum album). The extract contains active compounds — including mistletoe lectins and viscotoxins — that have been shown in laboratory studies to stimulate immune cells and promote the natural breakdown of damaged cells.

At Wellbeing Medical Group, we offer mistletoe therapy in two forms: as an intravenous infusion at our London clinic, or as a subcutaneous injection that can be given at home by our nursing team. The IV route delivers the extract directly into your bloodstream, while subcutaneous injections are given just under the skin. Dr Saskia will recommend the best approach for your situation.

The extract requires a medical prescription and must be administered under medical supervision.

We would strongly advise against using any mistletoe product purchased online without a prescription.

We are not a general wellness clinic. Wellbeing Medical Group exists specifically to support cancer patients, and mistletoe therapy is one of our most commonly prescribed complementary therapies.

Your protocol is designed by Dr Saskia, who reviews your hospital reports, understands your diagnosis and builds a plan that works alongside your NHS treatment. Our nursing team specialises in cancer care and can deliver treatment both at our London clinic and at your home anywhere in the UK.

We are CQC regulated, which means we meet the same clinical standards as NHS services. If you’re considering mistletoe therapy, call us on 020 3376 4835 or book a free consultation.

What Is Integrative Oncology?

Integrative oncology means combining your hospital cancer treatment — surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy — with complementary therapies that support your body and your wellbeing throughout.

We do not replace your NHS care. We work alongside it. When your oncologist is focused on treating the cancer itself, integrative therapies like mistletoe can help with everything around that: managing side effects, supporting your immune system, reducing fatigue and helping you feel more like yourself during a very difficult time.

Every plan we design is personal. Dr Saskia reviews your diagnosis, your therapy, your medical history and how you’re responding before recommending anything. The goal is always to complement what your hospital team is doing, not to work against it.

The Benefits of Mistletoe Therapy for Cancer Patients

Mistletoe therapy supports cancer patients in several ways. Research and clinical experience suggest the following benefits when used alongside conventional treatment:

Improved quality of life

Reduced fatigue during treatment

Immune system support during chemotherapy and radiotherapy

May help improve tolerability of hospital treatment

Reduced nausea and vomiting

May help with pain management

Supports appetite, sleep and general wellbeing

Mistletoe extracts can be given as an IV infusion or as a subcutaneous injection. At Wellbeing Medical Group, we offer both. Dr Saskia will recommend the best route for your situation based on your diagnosis and treatment plan.

Important: Mistletoe extract requires a medical prescription and must be administered under medical supervision. Do not use any mistletoe product purchased online without a prescription from a qualified doctor.

Mistletoe Therapy at Home — Anywhere in the UK

You don’t need to travel to London. Our nursing team delivers mistletoe therapy to patients across the UK, in the comfort of your own home, as part of our cancer care at home service.

Your therapy plan is still designed by Dr Saskia and overseen by our medical team. The only difference is where your therapy is given.

For patients who are too unwell to travel, or who simply prefer home-based care, this means you can access the same specialist support wherever you are.
