Managing Cancer Treatment Side Effects

Cancer treatment can save your life. But the side effects — the fatigue, the nausea, the pain — can make it feel like you’re fighting two battles at once. At Wellbeing Medical Group, we help cancer patients manage the side effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy with complementary IV therapies designed to work alongside your NHS treatment — never replacing it, always supporting it.

Are You Struggling with Cancer Treatment Side Effects?

If chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy is leaving you exhausted, nauseous or in pain, you are not alone. These side effects are common, they are real, and they can significantly affect your quality of life.

Our complementary IV therapies are designed specifically for cancer patients who want additional support alongside their hospital treatment. Whether you are about to start treatment, currently going through it, or recovering afterwards, Dr Saskia will review your case and design a care plan around your specific needs.

Our clinical team specialises in integrative cancer care. Every member understands the unique needs of cancer patients and stays up to date with the latest research so that your protocol reflects current best practice.

Our clinic on Tower Bridge Road is easily accessible by public transport and within walking distance of London Bridge station. We’ve designed the space to feel calm and private

From the moment you arrive, our team is here to look after you. The clinic is a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax during your therapy.

We offer flexible scheduling around your hospital treatment calendar. Booking is straightforward and our team will help you find times that work.

We begin with a free consultation to understand your diagnosis and treatment history. Dr Saskia and the medical team will then recommend the right therapies for your situation and provide clear pricing. There is no obligation to proceed.

Common Side Effects of Cancer Treatment

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy work by attacking cancer cells — but they can also affect healthy cells, leading to a range of side effects that impact your daily life. These vary depending on your treatment type, dosage and individual response, but some of the most common include:

Fatigue and Exhaustion

Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most reported side effects of treatment. It goes beyond normal tiredness — it’s a deep, persistent exhaustion that doesn’t improve with rest. It can affect your ability to work, spend time with family, and carry out everyday activities.

Many of our patients find that high dose vitamin C IV therapy and ozone therapy help support their energy levels during and after treatment cycles. Dr Saskia will assess your situation and recommend the right approach for you.

Nausea, Vomiting and Loss of Appetite

Nausea and vomiting are among the most common side effects of chemotherapy. Even when anti-sickness medication helps, many patients experience a persistent loss of appetite that leads to weight loss and nutritional deficiency.

Our intravenous infusion therapies deliver essential nutrients directly into your bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system entirely. This means your body receives the support it needs even when eating feels impossible.

Immune Suppression

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can weaken your immune system, leaving you vulnerable to infections and illness at the very time your body needs to be strong. A suppressed immune system can also delay treatment cycles if your blood counts drop too low.

Therapies such as mistletoe IV infusion therapy have been used across European integrative cancer clinics for decades to support immune function. High dose vitamin C is also well-documented for its role in supporting immune cell production and activity.

Neuropathic Pain and Nerve Damage

Some chemotherapy drugs can cause peripheral neuropathy — tingling, numbness or burning sensations in your hands and feet. This can affect your balance, grip and daily comfort, and for some patients it persists long after treatment ends.

We offer a dedicated neuropathic pain management pathway that combines IV therapies with evidence-based supportive care, designed specifically for cancer patients.

General Wellbeing and Quality of Life

Beyond the specific side effects, many patients describe a general decline in their sense of wellbeing during treatment. Sleep is disrupted. Concentration suffers. The emotional toll can be just as heavy as the physical one.

Dr Saskia reviews your complete medical picture — your diagnosis, your NHS treatment plan, your symptoms and your goals — and designs a complementary care plan that supports your body and your wellbeing as a whole.

“Many of our patients come to us because the side effects of their cancer treatment have become overwhelming. They’re exhausted, they’ve lost their appetite, and they feel like their body is struggling to cope. What we can do is support them through that — with therapies designed to help their body recover, reduce the burden of side effects, and improve their quality of life during what is an incredibly difficult time.”

Fiona

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer

After one cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Fiona decided the side effects were too much. She came to us looking for a different way to support her body alongside her hospital care.

Dr Saskia reviewed her biopsy results, designed an integrative plan around her needs, and worked with her throughout.

Her oncologist monitored her progress closely — and Fiona was able to maintain her quality of life and disease stability.

Graeme

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma Oesophagus

Dr Saskia built an integrative care plan around his surgery and treatment, focused on strengthening his body and managing side effects.

Isis

Diagnosis: Hodgkin Lymphoma

Isis was facing six months of chemotherapy for an aggressive diagnosis.

Complementary Therapies That Work Alongside Your Treatment

Every therapy we offer is designed to complement your NHS chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy. Dr Saskia works closely with your oncology team to ensure nothing we do interferes with your hospital treatment.

High Dose Vitamin C IV Therapy

One of the most widely used complementary therapies in integrative cancer care worldwide. Research supports the use of IV vitamin C alongside chemotherapy, with evidence showing it may help improve quality of life, reduce fatigue and support immune function during treatment. Delivered as a gentle infusion at our London clinic or through our national nursing team.

Mistletoe IV Infusion Therapy

Widely prescribed across European integrative cancer clinics for decades, mistletoe therapy is one of the most extensively researched complementary cancer therapies. Many patients report that it helps them feel better during treatment, supporting immune function and improving their sense of wellbeing. We use Helixor, a well-established European mistletoe preparation.

Curcumin IV Infusion Therapy

Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties. Delivered intravenously at therapeutic doses, it bypasses the absorption limitations of oral supplements and may help reduce inflammation associated with cancer and its treatment.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone therapy may help improve blood oxygenation, support immune function and reduce inflammation. It is particularly helpful for patients experiencing fatigue, inflammation or immune suppression from chemotherapy or radiotherapy. We offer ozone therapy through intravenous, rectal and subcutaneous routes.

Wormwood IV Infusion Therapy

Based on artemisinin, a compound with demonstrated anti-cancer activity in laboratory studies across multiple cancer types including leukaemia, colon, lung and breast cancer. Dr Saskia may recommend it as part of your personalised complementary care plan.

Pre & Post Surgery IV Support

A series of therapies designed to strengthen your body before surgery and help you recover more quickly afterwards. Dr Saskia tailors these protocols to your specific procedure and medical background.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can complementary therapies help with chemotherapy side effects?

Many patients find that complementary IV therapies help them cope better with the side effects of chemotherapy. High dose vitamin C, mistletoe therapy and ozone therapy have all been used alongside chemotherapy to support immune function, reduce fatigue and improve quality of life. Dr Saskia will review your specific treatment plan and recommend therapies that are safe to use alongside your chemotherapy drugs.

Will complementary therapies interfere with my cancer treatment?

No. Every therapy we offer is specifically selected to work alongside your NHS treatment. Dr Saskia reviews your hospital reports, medication list and treatment schedule before recommending anything. We work with your oncologist, not against them. Our goal is to support your treatment, not replace or interfere with it.

Do I need a referral from my oncologist?

You do not need a formal referral. We begin with a free consultation where our medical team reviews your diagnosis, treatment plan and medical history. However, we always encourage open communication with your NHS team and are happy to liaise with your oncologist directly if needed.

What side effects of cancer treatment can you help with?

We support patients experiencing a wide range of side effects from chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, including fatigue and exhaustion, nausea and loss of appetite, immune suppression, neuropathic pain, and general decline in wellbeing and quality of life. Dr Saskia will assess your individual symptoms and design a complementary care plan tailored to your needs.

Can I receive treatment at home?

Yes. For patients outside London or those who prefer home-based care, our specialist nursing team delivers IV therapies at your home anywhere in the UK through our cancer care at home service. Your care plan is still designed by Dr Saskia and overseen by our medical team. We currently have priority coverage in London, Manchester and Reading, with availability growing across England, Scotland and Wales.

Is your clinic CQC regulated?

Yes. Wellbeing Medical Group is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. This means we meet the same standards expected of NHS services. Dr Saskia Kloppenburg Vieth is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC: 7541548) and is a consultant at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.

How much does treatment cost?

We begin with a complimentary consultation where our medical team reviews your case and designs a bespoke therapy protocol. Detailed pricing is provided after this consultation, as every patient’s plan is different. There is no obligation to proceed.

Beyond managing specific side effects, our clinic provides broader wellbeing guidance throughout your treatment. Our supportive cancer care service covers personalised nutrition advice, safe supplement use, physical activity guidance and emotional wellbeing support — all coordinated alongside your hospital treatment plan.

Why Patients Trust Wellbeing Medical Group

We are not a general wellness clinic. Wellbeing Medical Group exists specifically to support cancer patients, and every therapy we offer is designed exclusively for people going through cancer treatment.

We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission, which means we meet the same clinical standards as NHS services. This is your assurance that our care is safe, effective and properly governed.
