Wormwood IV Therapy for Cancer Patients

Sweet wormwood has been used safely in traditional and modern medicine for decades. In recent years, it has gained significant attention in cancer research for its potential anti-tumour properties. At Wellbeing Medical Group, we offer wormwood IV therapy as part of a personalised integrative care plan.

Wormwood IV Cancer Therapy at Wellbeing Medical Group

Sweet wormwood  has been used safely for decades as a frontline antimalarial treatment and is recognised by the World Health Organisation.

Its potential role in cancer care has been the subject of growing research interest, with laboratory and early clinical studies exploring how it may help support cancer patients alongside conventional treatment.

At Wellbeing Medical Group, wormwood IV therapy is always part of a wider therapy plan designed by Dr Saskia. She reviews your hospital reports, understands your diagnosis and builds a protocol that complements your NHS care.

Unless NHS pathways have been deemed no longer suitable, we do not offer wormwood IV as a standalone cancer therapy.

IV delivery is important because it allows the active compounds in wormwood to reach therapeutic concentrations in the bloodstream that oral supplements cannot achieve.

Our clinical team specialises in integrative cancer care. Every member understands the unique needs of cancer patients and stays up to date with the latest research so that your protocol reflects current best practice.

Our clinic on Tower Bridge Road is easily accessible by public transport and within walking distance of London Bridge station. We’ve designed the space to feel calm and private

From the moment you arrive, our team is here to look after you. The clinic is a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax during your therapy.

We offer flexible scheduling around your hospital treatment calendar. Booking is straightforward and our team will help you find times that work.

We begin with a free consultation to understand your diagnosis and treatment history. Dr Saskia and the medical team will then recommend the right therapies for your situation and provide clear pricing. There is no obligation to proceed.

What Is Wormwood IV Therapy?

Sweet wormwood and its derivatives have been used safely in millions of patients worldwide as antimalarial treatments. Their potential anti-cancer properties were first identified in the 1990s, and since then a growing body of preclinical and early-phase clinical research has explored how these compounds may help in cancer care.

The key mechanism involves iron. Cancer cells typically contain much higher levels of iron than healthy cells. The active compounds in wormwood react with this iron to generate reactive oxygen species (free radicals) that can selectively damage cancer cells while largely sparing healthy tissue. This iron-dependent selectivity is what makes wormwood particularly interesting to cancer researchers.

Additional preclinical research suggests wormwood may inhibit the formation of new blood vessels that tumours need to grow (angiogenesis), interfere with cancer cell proliferation, and support the immune system’s response to cancer.

How Does Wormwood IV Therapy Work?

At our clinic, wormwood extract is delivered as an intravenous infusion directly into your bloodstream. This bypasses the limitations of oral absorption and allows the active compounds to reach the concentrations needed for a potential therapeutic effect.

A Phase II clinical trial in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer found that adding IV wormwood therapy to standard chemotherapy significantly improved disease control rates compared to chemotherapy alone. The treatment was well tolerated with no dose-limiting side effects. Other early-phase trials in cervical cancer and breast cancer have shown encouraging safety data and signs of clinical benefit.

While these results are promising, larger clinical trials are still needed to confirm the effectiveness of wormwood therapy in cancer care.

“Wormwood is one of the more exciting areas of research in integrative oncology. What makes it particularly interesting is its selectivity — the way it targets cells with high iron content, which includes many cancer cells, while largely sparing healthy tissue. The early clinical evidence is encouraging, and for the right patients, it can be a valuable part of their care.”

Benefits of Wormwood IV Therapy

Wormwood may offer several benefits when used as part of an integrative cancer care plan:

Immune System Support

Preclinical research suggests wormwood may help support immune function during cancer treatment, helping your body maintain its natural defences.

Selective Action with Fewer Side Effects

Wormwood’s iron-dependent mechanism means it may selectively target cancer cells while largely sparing healthy tissue, with a low incidence of side effects reported in clinical studies.

Synergy with Standard Treatments

Early clinical research suggests wormwood may complement chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with one trial showing improved disease control when added to standard treatment.

Support for overall wellbeing

Patients receiving wormwood as part of their care often report improvements in energy, appetite and general resilience during treatment.

Our Patients - Empowering People Lives

Fiona

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer

After one cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Fiona decided the side effects were too much. She came to us looking for a different way to support her body alongside her hospital care.

Dr Saskia reviewed her biopsy results, designed an integrative plan around her needs, and worked with her throughout.

Her oncologist monitored her progress closely — and Fiona was able to maintain her quality of life and disease stability.

Graeme

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma Oesophagus

Graeme contacted us before he’d even had his final diagnosis confirmed.

He wanted to be prepared — to have a plan that worked alongside whatever his NHS team recommended.

Dr Saskia built an integrative care plan around his surgery and treatment, focused on strengthening his body and managing side effects.

Isis

Diagnosis: Hodgkin Lymphoma

Isis was facing six months of chemotherapy for an aggressive diagnosis.

She came to us wanting to do everything she could to reduce side effects and give the chemotherapy the best chance of working.

Dr Saskia designed an intensive protocol alongside her hospital treatment, and Isis committed fully — attending every session and immersing herself in the research behind her care.

Are There Side Effects of Wormwood IV Therapy?

Sweet wormwood and its derivatives have an established safety profile from decades of use as antimalarial treatments, administered to millions of patients worldwide. In cancer studies, side effects have generally been mild and well tolerated.

There is a potential concern around audiological (hearing) effects at higher doses, which has been noted in some research. Before starting any treatment, Dr Saskia reviews your full medical history and current hospital care to make sure wormwood IV therapy is safe and appropriate for you. Our nursing team monitors you throughout every infusion.

We will always be clear with you about the risks and benefits of any treatment we recommend.
