What Is Curcumin IV Therapy?
Curcumin is the primary active compound in turmeric.
While it has been widely studied for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and potential anti-cancer properties, oral curcumin has very poor bioavailability — your body struggles to absorb enough to reach therapeutic levels.
IV delivery changes this. By administering curcumin directly into the bloodstream, we bypass the absorption limitations of the digestive system and achieve concentrations that oral supplements cannot reach.
This is why IV curcumin is used in integrative oncology settings where the goal is to support cancer patients at therapeutic levels.
At Wellbeing Medical Group, curcumin IV therapy is always part of a wider therapy plan designed by Dr Saskia, based on your diagnosis and your hospital treatment.
We do not offer it as a standalone cancer therapy.
How Does Curcumin IV Therapy Work?
Research suggests that curcumin may support cancer patients in several ways. It has been shown in laboratory studies to modulate inflammatory pathways, support healthy cell function, and in preclinical models, interfere with the growth and spread of cancer cells.
One randomised clinical trial of IV curcumin combined with chemotherapy in 150 patients with advanced breast cancer found a significantly higher tumour response rate in the curcumin group compared to placebo.
Patients in the curcumin group also reported less fatigue during treatment. While this is encouraging, more clinical trials are needed before definitive conclusions can be drawn.
Every curcumin IV protocol at our clinic is tailored by Dr Saskia to your specific needs, taking into account your cancer type, your hospital treatment and how you’re responding.
Our clinical team specialises in integrative cancer care. Every member understands the unique needs of cancer patients and stays up to date with the latest research so that your protocol reflects current best practice.

The Research Behind Curcumin in Cancer Care
Curcumin has been extensively studied in laboratory settings for its effects on cancer cells. The research suggests several potential mechanisms:
Anti-inflammatory:
Chronic inflammation is closely linked to cancer development and progression. Curcumin modulates key inflammatory pathways, which may help reduce the inflammatory environment that supports tumour growth.
Antioxidant protection: Curcumin helps neutralise free radicals and may protect healthy cells from the DNA damage that can contribute to cancer progression.
Anti-proliferative:
In laboratory studies, curcumin has been shown to regulate the cell cycle, encourage apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells, and inhibit cancer cell migration.
Chemotherapy support: A randomised trial in breast cancer patients found that IV curcumin combined with paclitaxel produced a significantly better tumour response than paclitaxel alone. Patients receiving curcumin also reported reduced fatigue.
The overall evidence base for curcumin in cancer is growing but still limited. A 2023 systematic review of randomised trials concluded that while curcumin shows promising signals, the available clinical evidence is not yet strong enough to draw definitive conclusions.
The Benefits of Curcumin IV Therapy for Cancer Patients
Powerful Anti-Inflammatory
Supports inflammation in the body, aiding overall wellness and reducing cancer-related inflammation.
Synergy with hospital treatments
Working alongside conventional treatments, research suggests curcumin may help slow cancer cell growth and enhance treatment effectiveness.
High Absorption
IV delivery ensures maximum absorption and bioavailability compared to oral supplements.
Boosts Antioxidant Protection
Neutralizes free radicals and protects healthy cells from oxidative stress and DNA damage.
Supports Natural Healing
Promotes balance in the body by encouraging healthy cell function and reducing tumour-promoting pathways.
Holistic Wellness
May help reduce treatment side effects, improve resilience, and support overall wellbeing during cancer treatments.
Comfort-Focused Care
Delivered in a calming environment with expert medical supervision for peace of mind.
Curcumin has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties. For cancer patients, this may help manage inflammation associated with both the disease and its hospital therapies.
Early clinical research, including a randomised trial in breast cancer patients, suggests curcumin may help support the effectiveness of chemotherapy while reducing some of its side effects.
Curcumin is poorly absorbed when taken orally. IV delivery bypasses the digestive system entirely, achieving therapeutic concentrations that supplements cannot reach.
Curcumin helps neutralise free radicals and may protect healthy cells from oxidative damage during chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Research suggests curcumin may support the body's natural immune response, helping maintain resilience during cancer care.
Research suggests curcumin may support the body's natural immune response, helping maintain resilience during cancer care.
Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common side effects of hospital therapies. Early evidence suggests curcumin may help improve energy levels and overall wellbeing.
“Curcumin is one of the most researched natural compounds in cancer care. While we’re still waiting for larger clinical trials to confirm what the laboratory evidence suggests, the early clinical data — particularly in breast cancer — is encouraging. For many of our patients, curcumin IV therapy is a valuable part of their integrative care plan.”

Our Patients — Real Stories, Real Results
Fiona
Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer
After one cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Fiona decided the side effects were too much. She came to us looking for a different way to support her body alongside her hospital care.
Dr Saskia reviewed her biopsy results, designed an integrative plan around her needs, and worked with her throughout.
Her oncologist monitored her progress closely — and Fiona was able to maintain her quality of life and disease stability.
Graeme
Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma Oesophagus
Graeme contacted us before he’d even had his final diagnosis confirmed.
He wanted to be prepared — to have a plan that worked alongside whatever his NHS team recommended.
Dr Saskia built an integrative care plan around his surgery and treatment, focused on strengthening his body and managing side effects.
Isis
Diagnosis: Hodgkin Lymphoma
Isis was facing six months of chemotherapy for an aggressive diagnosis.
She came to us wanting to do everything she could to reduce side effects and give the chemotherapy the best chance of working.
Dr Saskia designed an intensive protocol alongside her hospital treatment, and Isis committed fully — attending every session and immersing herself in the research behind her care.

Curcumin IV Therapy — Common Questions
Research suggests that curcumin may help support cancer patients in several ways: reducing inflammation, protecting healthy cells from oxidative damage, and potentially enhancing the effectiveness of certain chemotherapy drugs. A clinical trial in breast cancer patients found that IV curcumin combined with paclitaxel produced better tumour response rates than chemotherapy alone.
Curcumin IV therapy is not a cancer treatment in itself. At Wellbeing Medical Group, we use it as part of a wider integrative care plan designed to support you alongside your hospital treatment.
Curcumin IV therapy is generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported side effects are mild and temporary — slight nausea, a warm sensation during the infusion, or minor digestive discomfort. These typically pass quickly.
Before starting any treatment, Dr Saskia reviews your full medical history and current hospital care to make sure curcumin is safe and appropriate for you. Our nursing team monitors you throughout every infusion.
Curcumin taken orally has very poor bioavailability — your body struggles to absorb enough to reach the concentrations needed for a therapeutic effect. IV delivery bypasses the digestive system entirely, allowing curcumin to reach your bloodstream at levels far higher than oral supplements can achieve.
This is why curcumin used in clinical research and integrative oncology is increasingly delivered intravenously. It’s the same compound, but the IV route ensures your body can actually use it at the levels that matter.
We are not a general wellness clinic. Wellbeing Medical Group exists specifically to support cancer patients. Your curcumin IV protocol is designed by Dr Saskia, who reviews your hospital reports and builds a plan that works alongside your NHS treatment.
We are CQC regulated, our nursing team specialises in cancer care, and we can deliver treatment at our London clinic or at your home anywhere in the UK. Call us on 020 3376 4835 or book a free consultation.
